Operation Shut Eye's 10,000 Mattress Donation
— by Courtney Ford on Feb 19, 2020
Our parent company, Tempur Sealy, partnered up with Ashley HomeStore several years ago with one mission in mind—Operation Shut Eye.
Operation Shut Eye is dedicated to working with America’s Special Operations Forces to deliver mattresses to our great Service Men and Women. Each month, we work with non-profit Darkhorse Benefits to unload Tempur-Pedic mattresses to Special Operations service personnel around the U.S. Veterans Day 2019 was the perfect opportunity to celebrate our Veterans and to work on Operation Shut Eye. When the time came to bring Operation Shut Eye to Fort Campbell, this delivery struck us as something particular special. Not only would this instance mark the 10,000th mattress donation milestone, but it also hit home. Fort Campbell straddles our Kentucky and Tennessee border, which makes this donation especially memorable.
"Each of the many Operation Shut Eye donation events throughout the year are special to us, but this one stands out since Tempur Sealy is a Kentucky-based company," said Steve Rusing, Senior Vice President of Sales for Tempur Sealy. "We appreciate any chance to thank the service personnel who allow us to sleep safely at night, and it's an honor to help them get a great night's sleep in return."
"It was a particular honor to be a part of this donation, since Furniture Connection is headquartered in Clarksville, Tenn., just outside the gates of Fort Campbell," said David Berggren of Furniture Connection, Inc. "Doing business in this community and counting so many military families as customers gives us a great appreciation for their service and sacrifice. We're honored to give back to them."
We are continuously working to bring Operation Shut Eye to other Special Operations Forces units, and we are eager for the donations we have planned in the coming months.
